Kim and Jeanette Lyons have owned and operated Kim Lyons Pottery for over 40 years in Lesmurdie. In 2007, they opened a new workshop in West Toodyay called Picnic Hill Pottery to enable the redevelopment of the thrown form of terracotta pottery in WA.

Carved out of the hillside to take advantage of the views, the workshop has been designed to include a dedicated display room for finished work and ample space in the main workshop for people to watch the process of pottery throwing.

Kim Lyons Pottery and Picnic Hill Pottery are the only type of this pottery production now existing in Western Australia. Specializing in high temperature firing, our terracotta pots have survived the test of time and now we plan to build and expand on that reputation.

Toodyay is a pleasant 90km drive or train trip from Perth through the hills and farmland. The town itself straddles the Avon River and is surrounded by picturesque hills of remnant vegetation, grazing and cropping land. Winter and Spring to early Summer are ideal times to visit the region. Picnic Hill Pottery is located downstream 5.5km from town.
